In March 2011, Untracked Guides will travel to Northern Escape Heli-Skiing in Terrace, British Columbia. We will be sharing our trip with you via a Trip Report on Untracked Guides, a published print article, and HD videos. Our March trip to Northern Escape will be a great way to cap off an unbelievable season and we wanted to share some heli skiing stoke in advance.
Recently, we spoke with John Forrest of Northern Escape Heli-Skiing and he filled us in on the reasons why Northern Escape continues to be one of top destinations for heli-skiing in British Columbia.
Opening Jitters.
That’s the what you get the first day of the season. Standing in line with other shredders, stoked as hell and happy to be on skis again.
To be able to share this experience with other people – a truly awesome feeling.
When the lift, Timberline Express, started to turn everybody started hooting and hollering.
Yes, just like in the ski movies. This is very different from openings I have been to in Sweden, that’s for sure!
And the skiing – WOW.
The gear that we will be reviewing this season has started to roll in. Stay tuned as we put this gear to the test at cat skiing and heli skiing operators over the course of this season.
Here is a sneak peak at some of the ski gear reviews that we will be doing this season:
Discrete Headwear
Julian Carr learned of discrete principles in a computer science class at the University of Utah. These mathematical principles you can’t concretely define, such as calculus, trigonometry, or any definitive computer algorithm. Discrete variables exist “in the sense of not supporting or requiring the notion of continuity.” Carr loved this concept, and applying it to a headwear company was automatic. Even most of Discrete’s products are named after mathematical and computer science terminology.
Intuition Liners
Intuition continues to offer the best liner in the world, launching new innovations in moldable liner technology and setting unparalleled industry standards. Whether it’s ski or snowboard, mountaineering or water-ski boots, there is an Intuition liner that can enhance comfort and performance, as each liner is custom designed to specific athletic applications. The Intuition Ultralon Foam used exclusively in all Intuition liners will ensure feet are kept warm, comfortable and happy.
Outdoor Technology
Born and brewed in the heart of LA with roots extending from the Sick Sierras to our north, the little town of Ketchum Idaho, and the plains of the Midwest. With a love all things outdoors and a passion for anything tech, we mixed it up in the not so traditional So Cal action sports tradition and created Outdoor Technology® in 2008.
