Cat Skiing Roadtrip, Stop 3: Whistler, British Columbia

Powder Mountain Catskiing, Whistler, BC

Roughly eight riders to an acre at Whistler Blackcomb*. Nearly 180 acres per rider at Powder Mountain**. Advantage: Powder Mountain.

Whistler-bound traffic is backed up at 8:00AM on the morning after a dump, and by this time each car’s occupants have already wasted precious time and missed the first chairs. They’ll be watching from the lift, groaning as the earlier risers lay down some untouched tracks. By 10:00AM, much of the resort will be tracked out. On the other hand, when you find yourself on the Powder Mountain Catskiing shuttle, you’re heading away from the crowd for a thirty-minute jaunt from Whistler Village to the operation’s staging area. 4,300 acres of your personal powder playground await.

The Teo Chronicles: Chapter 1
Nov 2010 29

Hello to you all!

For the following five months I will try to give you a glimpse of my wonderful life as a ski bum in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada.

Now you’r probably wondering, “who is this dude?”

Let me introduce myself;

My name is Teodor Day, I’m 19 years old and come from a cold, dark place called Sweden. More specifically a small town called Nasaker (pronounced Naaeeissaker).
I love Sweden, but when it comes to snowfall, it just doesn’t cut it.
Don’t get me wrong, we have some really fun skiing! And sometimes mother nature really bless our mountains with snow. But for the most part, you ski on variable snow, e.g. windpack, hard pack etc.
