Destin, FL (PRWEB) May 21, 2004

Junior golf is the fastest growing sport for kids, instilling golf’s traditional values and life skills that stay with kids forever. The Hank Johnson School of Golf, ranked one of Golf Digest’s top 50 in the world, will incorporate these standards into the Sandestin Junior Summer Academy beginning June 8 at the Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, an Intrawest Corporation (NYSE: IDR; TSX:ITW) property located in Destin, Florida. The series, held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to noon is open to the general public and guests of the resort and concludes with a Junior Championship on August 31.

The Junior Golf Summer Academy will follow the U.S. Kids Junior Golf Instruction Manual, stressing not only rules and techniques, but also golf’s traditional values such as sportsmanship, courtesy, respect and discipline. Golfers ages 7 to 18 years can attend any number of sessions, starting at their personal skill level and developing at their own pace. All Academy participants are eligible for the season ending Junior Championship.

Primary instructors for the series, in its second year, are Hank Johnson School of Golf Director Tony Ruggiero, a two-time Buckhaltus Memorial Match Play Champion, and Norm Tums, PGA golf member and instructor for more than 20 years. Cost for all sessions is $ 350 or Tuesdays only for $ 200. Individual sessions are also available for guests of the resort for $ 25 per session. Golfers are encouraged to bring their own clubs; range balls will be provided.

For more information about the Sandestin Junior Summer Academy or to register, visit the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort website at http://www.sandestin.com or call Tony Ruggiero at 850-267-8156.
